How is print media evolving in a digital world?

In my reality, there is a resurgence of print media, more so as a luxury than anything else. To me, print media is not a relic of the past in this digital age but a reminder that we value something tangible. Print media involves your senses, compared to digital media which only encompasses your visual senses. With print you get to feel the media, you can feel the thickness and texture of the paper, the smell of it along with the visual. You tend to buy print yourself, have it gifted to you by friends and family which then increases its value to you.  Print media is not just reading material, but an object and a piece of design regardless of what’s inside. When you begin to read it and/or observe it, it becomes instantly more engaging than digital media. We are living in a digital age where nearly any technological advancement you could possibly fathom is feasible. I believe a world moving so quickly into the future should consider what a human needs for its well-being. We can’t move from reality to virtual reality, we need to be able to merge the two together, combining them in a way that is beneficial to everyone. Augmented reality is a way we could merge print and digital media in a way that doesn’t take away from either media but brings them together in a visual sensory harmony.
